2020 was the hottest summer on record and all Tucsonan’s are probably wondering what is next. Our winter weather was a little milder than normal, which leads most of us to believe we are in for another hot one.

I researched several websites and reports to find what I believe to be the best forecast…but the accuracy of them may not be so good when looking three or more months out. Here is what I found:

May: High temperatures are forecast to run in the mid-80’s to mid-90’s for most of the month. No forecast for a 100º day, but it gets up into the upper 90’s towards the end of the month.
June: I usually think of June as the month in which all days exceed 100º as very little precipitation occurs which keeps it hot. But the forecast for this June is a big surprise, with high temperatures in the mid-to high 90’s, breaking 100º in the last week of the month.
July: July takes the place of June and all but about two days will exceed 100º, with the highest temperature forecasted to be 106º.
August: The temperature forecast stops in July but what about our monsoon season?
Monsoon Season: It’s great news, as the current forecast calls for above average precipitation in June, July and August.

I hope we have a great monsoon as 2020 was one of the driest on record. I can stand the high heat but need a break with some rain!
