Its been a long road along the journey to create the Rita Ranch Community Garden. 10 years ago, we conceptualized the idea of the community garden located at 7471 S. Houghton Road. We were given full permission to develop and use the land with the stipulation that the land could potentially sell someday. Just over a year ago, that happened with the new land owner letting us know that he would eventually develop the land and we would need to move the garden. That date has been decided so our last day in that space will be April 30th. We’ve had an extra year during this difficult pandemic to figure things out so with much exploration, we’ve decided to partner with another non-profit, Wings For Women, and assist with developing a community garden at their fiuture Speedway location.
In the mean time, we will be having moving sales to help offset costs of the move. Expenses we anticipate are: moving the entire fence, most of the heavy blocks, 2 mobile mini shipping containers, the large rainwater cistern, potting bench, earthworm bin, compost tumblers, irrigation equipment, trees we planted, etc, etc.

So in the mean time, we will be having garden sales every weekend starting on March 26th from 9am until noon until everything that we can’t move is sold. There is organic soil, lots of planting equipment, 2 extra sheds, irrigation equipment, surplus bricks, plant starts and more.

What we need most of all is people. People to help us move and people to show their support by donating to our GoFundMe campaign. We are a 501C-3 so every dollar donated is tax deductible. Our GoFundMe page ishttps://gofund.me/297fa89f or reach out via email: WeLoveToGrow@gmail.com.
