On his first day of work as general manager of Greater Vail Community Resources, Jeff Bridge wasted no time jumping into the fray of food distribution alongside several other volunteers working the afternoon shift at ReSources Vail Food Bank. Even though the bulk of his work with ReSources will be the oversight of operations and helping the nonprofit to move forward on strategic priorities, he appreciates the importance of learning every facet of the food bank and the Depot Thrift Store, even the less glamorous but necessary duties of volunteers and managers. His easy-going and unassuming manner, however, belies a depth of experience gained while wearing some very different “hats” throughout life.
The skillset that Jeff brings to the position of general manager was acquired primarily during his 34 years with the Raytheon Company where he practiced engineering and held many program management positions. A baccalaureate and master’s degree in engineering from the University of Arizona formed the academic foundation for his career, making him a true Wildcat. Switching gears late in his corporate career, Jeff owned and operated two successful restaurants on the northwest side of town, each of which was very active with fundraising events for a variety of non-profit organizations. He also has led large groups of volunteers during his 18-year tenure on the board of directors of a local synagogue, which included terms as president.
When asked about his thoughts on his new position, Jeff was quick to respond: “I am very excited and honored to serve in this important role for Greater Vail Community Resources. To be able to complete my working career serving other members of our community is a dream come true. Our volunteers are really the heartbeat of this organization and I’m looking forward to working alongside them in the future. I have no doubt in my ability, with time, to become a leader for ReSources, as well as for this nonprofit to become a recognized leader in community service within southern Arizona.”
With great enthusiasm, the board of directors, staff and volunteers welcome Jeff Bridge as the new general manager of Greater Vail Community Resources. To learn more about ReSources and its service to the community, visit: www.resourcesvail.org.
