Vail Rd, Colossal Cave/I-10 Project       

Crews have made tremendous progress on the E/B I-10 bridge at Colossal Cave Rd. The new bridge deck has been poured and the new concrete barrier wall is now being placed. The goal is to have this completed by the end of July. From the looks of things, I feel we are right on schedule.

Please obey all traffic control devices and signage during this phase of construction.

Rita Rd Emergency Closure at I-10        

In recent days, an oversize load has damaged the Rita Rd bridge. ADOT has closed the bridge for southbound traffic. Northbound traffic will be allowed over the bridge. This will be in place while crews repair the bridge. All on and off ramps will remain open. I would anticipate lane closures along the interstate during these repairs.

Traffic control is subject to change if conditions warrant. Please stay alert and obey all traffic control devices.

Valencia Extension to Old Spanish Trail

Work continues daily on this project.

Bridge girders are being placed for the new bridge over the Pantano Wash. This two-lane bridge will be 370 feet long, with three spans of just over 120 feet each. The current schedule calls for completion of the bridge in September. Progress has also been made along Old Spanish Trail. Traffic has been moved onto the new permanent asphalt and the detour has been partially removed. Once paving is completed, Old Spanish Tr and Valencia will be connected. Please stay alert in this area. Obey all traffic control signage and barricades.

Houghton Rd/I-10 Bridge Replacement

The long-awaited replacement of the Houghton Bridge is finally here. The Arizona Department of Transportation has awarded this project to Ames Construction Inc, out of Phoenix, AZ. The award amount was $ 23,427,902.193. This project is anticipated to begin in August. More details will be coming in future issues.

Houghton/Valencia to Mary Ann Cleveland

This project has bid, and the low bidder is Borderland Construction out of Tucson, AZ.  The project does not show a final award as of writing. Low bid amount was: $ 14,706,262.34. Further details will be available soon on this project. If the project is awarded, I would anticipate the project starting in late August to early September.
