Tucked away in a picturesque niche of the Sonoran Desert on Colossal Cave Rd. is a hidden gem of a school. Although Creation School is a private faith-based school, it is public knowledge to those in the community who know about it and all it represents.
Initially founded in 2013 as a preschool with 1 teacher and 5 children, Creation School has grown into both a preschool/pre-k program with 50 children and an elementary K-3 school with 28 students. The teacher/student ratio is 1: 5 in preschool and 1:8 in the elementary. All K-3 staff are certified, highly qualified and experienced educators.
Due to the many successes in the K-3 classrooms, and a need in the community for further expansion, Creation School will be adding a 4th-5th grade combination classroom in 2021-2022. That class size and ratio expects to be up to 10 students, with a 1:5 ratio.
The curriculum will continue to address AZ benchmarks and learning standards, along with a S.T.E.M.-based, project approach curriculum. Through an emphasis of these meta-cognitive skills & adhering to our “3Rs” philosophy of “Rigor, Relevance, & Relationship-building,” the K-3 students are engaged daily in authentic and meaningful activities with positive outcomes. Monthly service projects connect students with the Vail community and around the world. In addition, “specials,” such as Music, PE, Global Literacy and Art are offered. A weekly after school sports club is another feature of Creation School.
Although Creation School may be small in comparison to other Vail schools in the area, it offers big advantages to students & families. For more information & registration, please contact: Jennifer Hook at (520) 468-7075.
