Hello Friends,

I hope your holiday season was filled with joy, great memories, and moments of rest. I thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time with my family and am stepping into 2025 feeling recharged and optimistic about the year ahead. In this month’s article, I’d like to share some highlights of what’s on the horizon for us this year on the topics that matter most to you.

Proposition 414
While we’re all likely enjoying the break from 2024’s political ads, an important election is coming up in March. Tucson voters will decide on Proposition 414, a half-cent sales tax increase for the next 10 years to fund a safer, stronger city. If passed, 65.75% of the revenue will support public safety, and 34.25% will be allocated to neighborhood and community resiliency efforts, such as citywide clean-ups and addressing homelessness.
The measure includes critical investments in public safety, such as:
• 60 additional commissioned police officers
• 125 additional professional staff for Tucson Police Department
• 88 additional firefighters
• 20 additional 9-1-1 and 3-1-1 operators

It also funds advanced safety technology, including upgraded 9-1-1 systems, real-time crime detection tools, and enhanced air support to improve response times across Tucson’s nearly 240 square miles. These measures address challenges like street racing and ensure faster emergency responses.
Something I’ve been proud to champion since my election is the Community Safety Awareness and Response Center (CSARC), our real-time safety operations hub. The CSARC uses cutting-edge technology to provide real-time intelligence to field personnel and serve as a key resource for emergency planning and response. If Prop 414 passes, the CSARC will benefit from additional funding to enhance its ability to keep Tucson safe.
This ballot measure represents a significant opportunity for Tucson. To learn more, visit the City’s Prop 414 information page at https://bit.ly/TucsonProp414 or scan the QR code.
