Saturday, July 14th, is when the summer humdrums set in. But there is a solution for you. Head for the Cienega High School campus on Saturday, July 14th when the Vail Family University will hold its annual conference. The conference is held in collaboration with the Vail School District and the local faith community and local non-profits. The conference is open to the public at no charge, but preregistration is required.
This year’s conference will feature award-winning author and inspirational speaker, Megan Feldman Bettencourt. Her book “Triumph of the Heart: Forgiveness in an Unforgiving World” offers the latest research and remarkable tales of forgiveness from around the world. Megan Feldman Bettencourt explores how forgiveness, when practiced in the right ways, can save lives, make us happier and healthier, and lead to a better world. This presentation is helpful for adults of all ages and marital status.
In addition to the main speaker, there will be fifteen, thirty-minute breakout sessions with subjects by local presenters. Select from two subjects, such as Finance, Health, Parenting, Relationships and Family, and Technology. Childcare will be offered for children from infancy to 11 years of age at no charge for the morning program.
In the afternoon, Vail Serves Vail will present a Free Back to School Resource Fair focusing on preparing students ready for the beginning of school the following week. One must attend the morning session in order to gain admittance.
At the resource fair, students may select backpacks filled with appropriate school supplies by elementary, middle, and high school levels. Churches and non-profits serving the Greater Vail area donated the backpacks and their contents. Also, there will be free student haircuts, free dental resources, free bicycle helmets and much, much more. Reasonably priced light breakfasts and hot dog and hamburger lunches will be provided by Cienega High School student clubs.
Free registration opens June 11, 2018, at www.vailfamilyuniversity.org.
