Candidate for Justice of the Peace Has Local Ties
As a 5th generation Tucsonan, I have always loved the Tucson and Vail Communities. My family has been serving the local community for years, from my grandfather who was an educator for over 30 years, to my father, Keith Bee, who served in the Arizona State Senate, Arizona State House, and finally, in the position I am currently running for, Justice of the Peace Precinct 5.
My father, the current Justice of the Peace in Precinct 5, has been able to help countless people turn their lives around, while ensuring that justice is properly administered. Since he is now retiring, I would like to have the same opportunity to serve my community in this capacity. I am committed to protecting the rights of local citizens and continuing our family legacy of trusted service.
Since graduating college, I have been working as the chief financial officer of a local business. In 2016, my wife Belinda and I moved from Tucson into our first home here in the Vail community. Since then, our family has grown. We have a beautiful 11-month-old daughter Kelsey, and a boxer named Daisy.
Many people associate justices of the peace with weddings. However, the role of a justice of the peace includes much more. In Pima County, the justice court is consolidated, meaning the judges representing the greater Tucson area all work in the same courthouse downtown. On average, each judge handles approximately 20,000 cases each year. These cases are comprised of both civil and criminal matters. The justices have jurisdiction over civil cases when the disputed amount is $10,000 or less. They also handle criminal misdemeanor cases such as domestic violence, theft, drug and DUI offenses.
The decisions made in the courtroom affect peoples’ everyday lives, so I will not take the responsibilities of this job lightly. I have always had a strong passion for the criminal justice field, which led me to obtain my degree in Administration of Justice. I have further continued my legal education by completing the Arizona Supreme Court Pro Tem Judge Training course.
I would consider it an honor and a privilege to serve the people of Vail and Pima County. Thank you for your consideration and support. Please vote for Keith Bee II!
