Before the long-awaited but hectic holiday season begins, get outside and get your golf on while supporting ReSources Vail Food Bank. The Greater Vail Community Resources 2020 Golf Challenge will be held at Del Lago Golf Course on the morning of Saturday, November 14th, and will feature game holes, raffles, silent auction and a socially distanced lunch in which winners will be announced, trophies awarded, and sponsors recognized. The scramble format makes for a fun round in which foursome teams compete against each other for first place trophies in “Open” and “First Responder” categories.
This is a call for golfers and sponsors to register online before November 1st, if possible, by visiting the web site at www.resourcesvail.org. Golfers can register their foursome or register as single players who will be paired later with others. The cost per golfer is $100 and includes cart, range balls, goodie bag and lunch. As always, proceeds from the tournament will go to support Resources Vail Food Bank and its programs for the coming year.
Participation in this year’s golf tournament is especially important as ReSources revenues have been hit hard by Covid 19 – just when demand for food increased dramatically. Vail Depot Thrift Store normally provides the bulk of operating revenue for the food bank, but it was forced to close during the pandemic-caused shut down. Without generous donations from local businesses and individuals, our food bank also would have closed its doors, at least temporarily, but the community’s help allowed it to remain open with new safety protocols. That said, proceeds from this fund-raiser are essential in jump-starting the work of Resources Vail Food Bank during this downturn of thrift store operations and revenue.
Please help ReSources continue with its mission of feeding greater Vail. Come out to play on November 14th, support the food bank and join an honored cadre of “neighbors helping neighbors.”
