Do you love the roar of a car’s engine? Do you enjoy fierce competition that puts $36,000 worth of prizes on the line? Just want something fun to do in the Vail area? Then you won’t want to miss the Napa-Jostens Chilly Will 100 Race at Tucson Speedway this weekend.

Practice rounds run today and tomorrow. Then, over 75 racers are expected to battle their way to the prize money at the main events happening on February 6th and 7th.

Grandstands open at 6 p.m. on Friday. Qualifying rounds will begin at 4:30 and heat races will start at 6:00 p.m. Once the rounds are complete, fans are invited to the pits for a chili feed and bonfire with the race teams.

Chilly Willy race rings35 Super Late Models will start the signature event, which is sponsored by Napa Stores of Southern Arizona and Jostens. Over the course of the event, qualifying and elimination heat races will take place. The final event is the Chilly Willy 100 Race, which is expected to start around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 7th. The drivers, who hail from six Western states and two Canadian provinces, will race for $5,000, the Jostens’ first place ring, and the Chilly Willy Sculpture Trophy.

If you’re planning to go on February 7th, you’ll want to get there in time for the Modified main event. Many of the Modifieds that are competing in the Chilly Willy also competed in the Lucas Oil Modified Series. The Modified event is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, but grandstands open as early as 5 p.m. If you miss it this time around, mark your calendars for April 11 when many of the same Modifieds will return to Tucson Speedway for another race. Chilly Willy pic

In addition to the races, fans can enjoy full service at the Speedy Cafe, which serves up the Trophy Burger, Manzy Burrito, Desert Sonoran dogs and a selection of beer from Coors and Miller.

There is plenty of family entertainment available on both days. Even if you’re not an avid NASCAR fan, you will still have fun at this exciting local event.
