My name is Maria Retana, I was born in Cuba but I am now a resident of Tucson and an author for bilingual children’s books. I have written and published over 20 books. I have the privilege to have Miles Last, my grandson, join me in publishing children’s books. He was born in Tucson, AZ, in 2011. At the age of seven he joined me, and together we wrote the second book in the Miles and Lee series, titled Miles & Lee Save the Monarch Butterflies. In kindergarten, Miles wrote his own fantasy story. He enjoys reading, filming short films, and watching movies. Miles plays basketball, practices karate, and is a 6th grader at Rincon Vista Middle School. He lives in Tucson, Arizona, with his parents and little brother Lee.
Our new release is a comic Miles & Lee and the Ghosts from the Lighthouse/ Miles & Lee y los Fantasmas del Faro. It was published on January 28, 2023.
In addition to Miles Last’s cooperation in this new release, his brother, Lee Last, a 2nd grader in Senita Valley Elementary, is one of the main characters along with Miles.
