November is a time to sit back and think about all the things in your life. Who, and what, helped you become the person you are today. It’s a time of thankfulness and gratitude. But sometimes we might not understand or know how to show someone we appreciate them.
There are many ways to show appreciation for someone. Some of the most known ones are just simply saying thank you for something someone has done for you. For example, if someone got you food or did the dishes. A simple thank you goes a long way.
Another way of showing gratitude is gift-giving. If someone has done something nice for you, maybe think about getting them a gift. This can also be done to show how much you care about someone without something they had to do first. Just a “thinking of you” gift.
This other way to show thanks is another form of gift giving, but homemade. It can be one thing to buy someone a gift, but making it from scratch and using creativity is a whole other kind of special. This shows that you took time out of your busy schedule, and put time and effort into something for that person. It means a lot to somebody when a gift comes from the heart.
Doing something that person likes really shows you care and pay attention to them. For example, if that person likes to go bowling or they like playing music, asking if they want to go bowling with you or learning something from them about music can really make them feel special. Even watching or listening to them talk about their favorite things can show how much you truly care about someone.
This leads me to my next action. Just being a lending hand or a shoulder to cry on can truly mean a lot. If someone is going through a hard time, or even if someone just wants to talk about something they love with you. Taking the time to listen and show that you care about what they’re talking about means a lot. Not only do they feel valued by this, but your connection will grow deeper.
There are many ways to show you care about someone. These are only a few great things to keep in your normal everyday schedule. Just to show someone you care. It doesn’t have to take that long either; this can be done in 5 minutes. But just showing someone you appreciate them is really important.
