Outdoor Recreation
Hiking, biking and playing golf are outdoor activities enjoyed by many in the Tucson area, however, these are not for everyone. And sometimes they take more time than we are willing to invest. Here are three outdoor recreation choices that can be enjoyed by most everyone:
Miniature Golf
I played “Putt Putt” miniature golf courses in my youth and not much has changed. Golf N’ Stuff located at 6503 E Tanque Verde has two 18-hole courses for your enjoyment. You don’t really need to know anything about golf to play, it’s fun for adults and kids and it’s open 7 days a week.
Scavenger Hunt
This is one I we haven’t tried but it looks interesting. Urban Adventure Tours offers an Interactive Scavenger Hunt which also results in a sightseeing tour of Tucson. Using your SmartPhone as a guide, the adventure begins in the heart of the city and takes you on a course that includes famous parks and historical sights. Total walking distance is about two miles and the hunt runs about three hours.
Driving Range
I wanted to make this a list of events for all people, but this sounds like a golfer’s playground. And it is, to a certain extent, but you don’t have to play golf to have fun. Player’s “rent” an area for ½ hour or more which is set up for driving golf balls. Each section has couches, tables and heaters for staying warm – it works, we tried it! A waiter is assigned to your area and we found the food to be excellent. You may have up to six people in your area and players of all ages and skill levels can score. On Tuesday rental prices are half price at only $12.50 per hour.
