Dear Heather,
I have been with my significant other for 10 years. We aren’t a couple that goes overboard on holidays and birthdays as far as gift giving goes. I’ve been thinking that this year I’d like to surprise her with a trip for Valentine’s Day. My concern is that I will anger her by making a choice to do something somewhat extravagant without letting her know prior. What are your thoughts?
Thank you, Valentine’s Day Dilemma
Dear Dilemma,
You should start by assessing your current situation. If you’ve been struggling with money; saving for something, or working to pay off debt, maybe accruing new debt isn’t a good idea. If your Valentine is a person who really doesn’t like surprises, maybe a big surprise trip isn’t something they would enjoy. With that being said, if the above isn’t your reality, a fun, spontaneous trip is a great way to celebrate the person you love and make memories with them! No matter what you decide, remember to enjoy one another. Express your love and appreciation for your partner in a way you both feel fulfilled!
Sincerely, Heather
