With cooler temperatures, we all started thinking of the fall season and all of the great holidays. Our first fall holiday is Halloween. Besides Christmas, Halloween is probably one of the best holidays to be a kid – getting all of that candy. To ensure our kids are safe in enjoying this holiday, please remember the following:
Supervise children under age 12.
Inspect all treats for safety before eating them.
Drive slowly and exit driveways carefully.
Have children exit cars on the curbside, not street side.
To avoid falls, please make sure the costume eyeholes are large. enough to see out of and avoid long trailing fabric.
Make sure your child has a flashlight or glow-sticks.
Remind your children to stay away from items that have open flames. such as jack-o-lanterns. Adults also should be careful when using candles in their jack-o-lanterns and should consider using battery-operated candles.
Ensure that you have working smoke alarms in your home. The National Fire Protection Association reports that decorations are the first thing to ignite, in 900 reported home fires each year. If you do not have a working smoke alarm, please contact Rincon Valley FD at 520-647-3760 and we can help you out.
At Rincon Valley Fire, our vision is to “Make Vail a Safe Place.” Please help us keep our community safe this holiday by practicing some of these tips.
