In Arizona, approximately one out of four children struggle with hunger. During the school year these children are able to take advantage of free and reduced meals at school, but over the weekends and breaks they are faced with heightened food insecurity.

Christ Lutheran Vail Church wants to ease the burden on local hungry families by holding a food packaging event in conjunction with The Outreach Program. Our “Pack-A-Thon 2019,” being held June 30, 2019, will result in 30,000 quality, nutritious meals that will be donated to the local ReSources Vail Food Bank for distribution to Vail residents in need.  In order to do this, we need your help! In one hour, we could feed thousands.

There are all kinds of volunteer positions available. Some will help us get set up for the event, check in volunteers, and break down when we’re done, most will help us pass out food and get meals packed. If you can do light work for an hour while having fun with your family and friends, this is the opportunity for you!

The event will take place in the morning on Sunday, 30 June in the Cienega High School Auditorium at 9 AM. Please sign up for a volunteer position on the following link:  https://volunteersignup.org/FDFYJ

If you are not able to volunteer but still wish to help, we are also seeking donations to help fund the project.  You can donate to the event on our Go Fund me site:  GoFundme – gf.me/u/rx7966.

Your donation is tax deductible, as Christ Lutheran Vail qualifies as a 501(c)3 charitable organization under the IRS guidelines for churches. We can provide you with our tax ID number should you desire it. If you have any questions, you can call our event leader, Heike Smith at (520) 286-0271 or email her at heike1415@yahoo.com
