Arts Express presents its annual holiday spectacular, A Christmas Carol & Dickens Festival, in a safe, socially distanced production, December 6 – 15 in its new theater at Park Place Mall, 5870 E. Broadway Blvd., Suite 214, Tucson, 85711.
This celebrated musical production captivates audiences with its brilliant cast, live orchestra and dazzling costumes. The show stars Jeremy Vega (Ebenezer Scrooge); Jodi Darling (Ghost of Christmas Past); Anthony Allen Taylor (Cratchit), Karl Haas (Marley), Preston Hatch (Fred Anderson, Dennis Tamblyn (Ghost of Christmas Present); Tara Petersen (Ghost of Christmas Future); along with a talented cast of characters and voices. Adapted from the Dickens classic, the musical features a score by Broadway heavy hitters Alan Menken (Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast) and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Once on This Island, Seussical). The show is directed by Susan Stokes, with musical direction by Khris Dodge and choreography by Simone Jolivet-Manual.
“The perennially inspiring message of Charles Dicken’s story is one of the possibilities of change, and the power of hope,” says Stokes. “The main character, Ebenezer Scrooge, endures every possible hardship in his younger life. Through a series of fantastic events, Scrooge is awakened to his isolation and to faith and hope, restored to a meaningful life with family, friends and his community.”
Guests can also enjoy the Dickens Festival, open daily at Park Place Mall. The merry old streets of London come to life with holiday amusements, cheery vendors scrumptious food and treats, and musicians and caroling. Admission to the festival is free; check the Park Place Mall website for hours.
