Local resident Aaron Hewings recently published his new novel, The Dark Winter of War. He is an 11-year resident of the Tanque Verde area, where he lives with his wife Lori, and two sons, Will and Jonathan. In addition to his writing, Hewings is a co-owner of the Anytime Fitness at Tanque Verde and Bear Canyon. He has been active in the community, including several years coaching youth baseball and soccer with the Tanque Verde Little League and Tanque Verde Soccer Club.
The Dark Winter of War is Hewings’ debut novel. The story is a WW2 espionage thriller, set in December 1943. In occupied Warsaw, a British agent working in the German Schutzstaffel (SS) is captured. He is vital to Allied Intelligence… his loss is a potential disaster and the balance of power in the deadly intelligence war suddenly threatens to swing in favor of Nazi Germany. Desperate to stop the enemy from dealing the Allies a crippling blow, British intelligence strikes back with an emergency mission in Occupied Europe. They send a pair of agents in enemy territory to capture a German spy-hunter, but they face a nearly impossible task: a hastily planned operation, a resolute and merciless enemy, extreme misfortune and very little time.
