What grade are you in and what are your future plans?
I am in the 12th grade at Cienega high school and will be graduating in 2019. My future plans, in regards to my career, are … well, I guess I don’t know yet, but I figure that putting my best effort into working and making my own business along with getting good grades in high school will provide me with the character and education that will lead me to what I want to do. For now, I think the best option is to develop that spark in my eye to get out there and do whatever it takes to succeed.
How did you start your business?
I started my window washing business when my family first moved here from Bend, Oregon. My dad did window washing professionally in college for over three years, and told me that he would train me. I have actually been an entrepreneur ever since I was 10 years old, having a lemonade stand with a sign saying “saving for college.” People would throw $20 bills out of their car windows when passing by. I also strived to make money by serving my community through yard work. Furthermore, it was with my vehement passion for that good character and work ethic that made me start my business.
What is the most challenging aspect of your business?
I think the most challenging part of my business is getting the word out that I’m here. Through posting what I do on Facebook forums to riding my bike all over Vail, hanging up fliers, it’s still hard to obtain work. Maybe it’s still just me learning, but I think once people hear about me more they will contact me.
What is the easiest aspect of your business?
The easiest part of my business would probably be, surprisingly, getting along with people. I feel like the individuals who hire me have a passion for youngsters like me who are out there to get it, because they know that it leads to that person being of good quality.
