Continued deflate-gate controversy or not, Superbowl XLIX kicks off on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. This year, the New England Patriots are squaring off to stop the Seattle Seahawks from becoming Superbowl champions for the second year in a row.

No matter whether you were an avid football watcher during the regular season or not, this game has a variety of entertaining factors.

  • If you love scandal, you’ll love hearing the inevitable stories of “deflate-gate.”
  • If you love entertainment, tune in for the national anthem and halftime show (this year Katy Perry is taking the stage.)
  • If you love marketing and advertising, then you’ll love the commercials.
  • If you love puppies, you’ll *really* love the commercials this year.
  • If you love football, well that’s a no-brainer… you’ll love the game!

Many fans hope for a closer competition this year after last year’s Superbowl was wrought with disappointment when the Denver Broncos failed to appear on the field.

It’s clear that you will probably be tuning in to this year’s big game, but now the question becomes, where can you watch the Superbowl in Vail?

Watching the game at home just isn’t the same. Luckily, some restaurants and bars in Rita Ranch and Vail are hosting Superbowl specials to make your experience that much more enjoyable.

Here are some of the Superbowl specials happening around Vail this year.

Hacienda del Lago

Hacienda del Lago is encouraging football lovers to mingle with golfers in their clubhouse with some enticing football specials. Wings, beer, burgers, and appetizers are all being served up at a discount. Enjoy the big game in style and comfort while watching on one of their five TVs.

Montgomery’s

Montgomery’s will extend their regular happy hour to be in effect all of Superbowl Sunday. This means appetizers and drinks will be on special throughout the football holiday.

Saguaro Corners

This new restaurant has not advertised any specials yet, and when I called to check on the specials they planned to offer, the gentleman on the phone did not know of anything in the works. With that said, I wanted to include them in this list because they usually have specials on Sundays in honor of the football games. For the AFC and NFC championship, they had food and drink specials happening. Based on the new owner’s track record, something special will happen but right now it’s a “wait-and-see” status to know exactly what those specials will be (if anything).

Papa Johns

You didn’t think Payton Manning would let you down off the field too, did you? Papa Johns is promising a free pizza to anyone who orders before Superbowl Sunday. All you have to do is place an online order by Sunday, February 1. Then, Papa John will go into your account and deposit enough points for a free pizza starting on Monday, February 2. The only catch is, you have to redeem your free pizza by February 22.

If you want a break from cooking, surround yourself in true Superbowl style with fellow football lovers at any of these or other restaurants in Vail where you can watch the big game.

And remember, if you’ve had a few too many drinks, call a taxi!
