Supporting Our Community, On and Off the Road
El Tour de Tucson is almost here. This annual event showcases the beauty of our region and brings visitors from around the world. As we shared last month, my team has worked closely with the El Tour Board to make sure southeast Tucson and Vail residents are well-informed and able to move around safely during the ride.

If you plan to be out and about that weekend, please check out route maps, detours, and closure details in advance at eltourdetucson.org. We’re wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable ride this year and hoping for minimal disruption so our community can enjoy a productive weekend doing the things we love.

Coming Together to Support Families in Need
I’m writing this on October 23 while the federal government remains shut down. By the time this newspaper reaches your hands, I sincerely hope the shutdown has ended and that federal employees in our community are once again receiving their paychecks.

Even when the federal government is running, many families across southern Arizona continue to face challenges as we head into the holidays. That’s why I’ve partnered with the Air Force Sergeants Association Chapter 1261, the City of Tucson’s City Vets Employee Resource Group, and the Chamber of Southern Arizona for a region-wide food drive benefiting the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.

I also want to highlight the ReSources Vail Food Bank (https://resourcesvail.org) as one of the local drop-off sites and a valuable ongoing resource for individuals and families in need right here in our community.

If you’re able, please consider donating non-perishable food items or making a monetary donation. Every $1 provides 3 meals for families in Southern Arizona.
Our Southern Arizona community has always shown up for one another, especially in challenging times. Thank you for helping make this season a little brighter for our neighbors who need it most.
As always, you can reach my office with any questions or concerns.
