Hello Friends,
I hope that August is off to a great start for you. My team and I have some updates to pass along about Purple Heart Park.
The playground near the Rita Road parking lot for kids ages 2-5 needs replacing after failing a safety inspection. The older kids’ zone for ages 6-12 meets safety standards but will get a new shade sail. The existing swings, including the ADA swing, will stay in place. In May, we asked our community to vote for their favorite playground design. Thank you to everyone who participated! We received 938 votes, with 723 choosing option #2. We anticipate installing the new playground in the Fall. I’m pleased to invest funds from my office to purchase this new playground replacement for Purple Heart Park.
You may have also noticed the new oversized ramada near the splash pad has completed construction. This was also funded from through my office through vacancy savings. You can rent that ramada, #4, by using the online reservation system EZeereg.com or by calling 520-791-4873.
Unfortunately, as soon as the new concrete tables and benches were installed, they were vandalized, causing significant damage. If you have any information or saw anything suspicious, please contact my office, call 311, or email Community Service Officer Terry Hayward at Teresa.Hayward@tucsonaz.gov. If you witness criminal or suspicious activity, please call 911 immediately.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement in our community. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team at the Ward 4 Council Office at ward4@tucsonaz.gov and/or 520-791-3199 for any support we can provide.
