The Vail School District Tiny House Project is on target to have the first home in place by the end of May.  The intent of the project is to provide high-quality, small space housing option for Vail School District staff who desire affordable housing and a sense of community within the Vail School District.

The initial project is master planned for 24 individual housing units located on “land between the tracks” at the original town site of Vail. The housing project and overall site plan will honor those who choose to live in the homes while helping to foster a sense of community. High quality design, building materials, and interior/exterior appointments will available in homes that are approximately 400 square feet. Monthly payments for the homes are expected to be in the range of $500 per month plus a monthly leasing fee that covers all utilities, internet access, and associated site upkeep.

District staff may purchase a home to place in the community or may rent a home that is owned by a private investor.  The district will develop and maintain the property and ensure the overall quality of the project, but it will not be purchasing homes.
