Rosemont Copper, Hudbay Arizona Business Unit, has awarded eight public schools representing six different school districts nearly $15,000 in grants supporting STEEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Environment, Agriculture and Math) in their Fall School Grant Program.
Corona Foothills Middle School and the Vail Unified School District were among those awarded grants. Grants will supply funds in order to teach students how to create alternative energy in the form of wind turbines and solar panels in order to provide electricity. Students will create alternative energy prototypes and determine the best way to access alternative energy sources for their campus. “This year, our grants program allowed us to underwrite nearly $25,000 to support STEEAM curriculum and after school activities for 12 schools in nine area school districts,” said Jerry Bustamante, Community Relations Manager. The Rosemont grant program will be entering its 5th year to award area schools and teachers bringing innovative ideas and creativity into the classroom.
