Do you know someone in Vail who’s hungry? For many households, summertime means that children are going without the supplemental nutrition they receive through school district programs. The heat of the summer also hits some of our elderly hard, keeping them indoors and away from those who might help. Sometimes it’s a temporary life crisis that limits a family’s ability to put food on the table, but embarrassment or pride keeps them from visiting the place that’s tailor-made to assist: ReSources Vail Food Bank.
Be a good neighbor and bring someone in need to the Food Bank (located “between the tracks” behind the Depot Thrift Store) to register as a client and experience how easy it is to have access to pantry staples, frozen meats, and fresh produce. If necessary, maybe you can be the angel who visits ReSources Vail Food Bank on a regular basis to deliver groceries to a family in need. Sandi Smithe, vice president of the Greater Vail Community Resources (“ReSources”), puts things into perspective with this invitation for those in need: “Come by and visit us at the Food Bank and let us help you today so you can help someone tomorrow.”
ReSources Vail Food Bank is funded by proceeds from the Vail Depot Thrift Store and through monetary and food donations from local merchants and individuals. Currently, ReSources is seeking a part-time business manager to assist in the day-to-day operations of the thrift store. For more information about this paid position or volunteer opportunities, please inquire within Vail Depot Thrift Store.
