Covid-19 has had a major impact on my senior year as well as everyone worldwide. When I first heard of the virus, I never really expected it to impact America, because terrible things such as pandemics and wars never really take place in the states. However, it came and ripped away my senior year. It took away prom, senior ditch day, senior pranks, and graduation. While I am sad that I can no longer participate in these exciting milestones, I choose to look at it in a brighter light. Because of the pandemic, I was able to relieve some stress from working my usual closing shifts from 5pm-1am during school weeks. I was also able to take a breather from my extensive course load and internship through Raytheon. I am also now able to say, “Yes, I was a part of the class that survived a possible World War III, pandemic, and a toilet paper shortage.” No one else gets to say that! During the pandemic, I have also been able to catch up on new TV shows and movies. Finally, I have been able to work on new engineering projects, such as learning code and creating new 3D models. The class of 2020 is unique and always has been. I had recently emailed one of my teachers and she told me that this was very 2020 of us because we were always a strange class. In the end, I choose not to look at this as a tragedy, but rather another strange ending to a chapter in my life. I am excited to start my new journey at the University of Arizona Honors College and plan to major in Optical Engineering. I would like to congratulate my fellow seniors on their accomplishments and offer one piece of advice to aid them through this trying time.
