As our readers might recall, The Vail Voice has had a number of articles, for at least three years, addressing aspects of Houghton Road improvements as well as road repair concerns going back to late 2017. We are very pleased to share, as our front page story, Supervisor Steve Christy’s news regarding improvements and expansion of Houghton Road. We will keep you informed as progress happens.
We also have a number of articles that touch upon the theme of love (stemming from Valentine’s Day coming up February 14th). I can add little to what some of our writers have contributed, except to share with you a poem from “Gammer Gurton’s Garland,” a 1784 collection of English nursery rhymes:
“The rose is red, the violet’s blue
The honey’s sweet and so are you.
Thou are my love and I am thine;
I drew thee to my Valentine:
The lot was cast and then I drew,
And Fortune said it shou’d be you.”
My wife, (reading this as I write it, and thus, helping me write it), notes that everyday can be a time when we express our love to those we love – so true!
