Drew John was raised to value service to the community and the importance of hard work. As a small business owner for 40 years, he spent decades serving as a school board member and a county supervisor. Those roots established his position as a strong advocate for business, education, community, and infrastructure.
Born and raised in rural Southern Arizona, Representative John has an unparalleled knowledge of our legislative district’s needs and a solid understanding of the struggles we have in our communities. His focus on roads, schools, emergency services, law enforcement, healthcare, and economic growth preserves the quality of life that we want for our families.
In Drew John’s first legislative session, he stopped nine bills that were bad for our communities, including one that would have closed down a rural school district. Although a rookie, Drew was able to stop bills with the trust and respect he earned among his fellow legislators.
Representative John’s second session was a historical session, in which he fought hard, stayed late, and worked weekends to deliver for our legislative district.
Accomplishments include:
- Assured the Vail School District received funding for a new high school,
- Passed legislation that freed up $112 million to repair our roads,
- Supported publicly the governor on the 20×2020 teacher’s pay plan,
- Advocated that District Additional Assistance restoration was kept whole,
- Stopped legislation to increase regulations on businesses,
- Fought the attempt to tax services, and
- Worked with the Vail School District and the State Land Department to secure land for the new high school.
Drew John has received numerous awards for his work for our legislative district including the Arizona Chamber of Commerce Freshman Legislator of the Year and The Arizona GOP Rookie Legislator of the Year. He has been endorsed by groups such as Responsible Leadership for AZ, the Arizona Association of Realtors, the Arizona Fraternal Order of Police, and the Vail Parent Network.
