Your local Boy Scout Troop #770 is spreading Christmas cheer this season by selling trees and wreaths in your community.  Each week this troop recites the Scout Oath – On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

They do this by living out twelve principals: A Scout is: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

The community is invited to see these skills in action when they purchase a tree or wreath. Troop 770 has been building the tree lot and selling trees for the past 4 years. The tree lot project is a great way for the Scouts to demonstrate this oath. Proceeds benefit the Boy Scout Troop 770’s numerous scouting endeavors.

Your purchase comes with a friendly sales experience, a warm cup of hot cocoa, and a secured tree to the top of your vehicle. They will also provide you with a discount card for next year. “When you buy a tree from the Scouts, you can trust the tree is of good quality plus you are helping us to have fun,” said Boy Scout Ethan Turner.  Each Boy Scout has a different job on the lot. Some scouts serve as salesmen, some serve as tree trimmers, others as cashiers.  These boys take a great deal of pride in their role and responsibilities.

The troop’s scoutmaster enjoys seeing the boys put their Scout knowledge to good use. “During this special season, the tree lot serves as a bridge bringing the Scouts and the community together. The Scouts are excited to show the customers around the tree lot explaining the different types of trees while perfecting their best sales pitch,” stated Scoutmaster Brad Adams. “The community is awed by the respect and behavior of these Scouts. They are a shining example of America’s future leaders. “This is the single most favorite event of the year for the Scouts, next to summer camp. They have so much fun and learn a lot,”  said Scout Committee Chair, Kevin Caswell.

When you buy a tree, you are directly supporting the Scouts as well as the community. Money raised helps the Scouts attend summer camp and advance through the rankings, giving them a great sense of accomplishment. Your purchase also supports this community through the Scout volunteer efforts allowing them to complete service projects for schools, churches, and neighbors.

You can purchase trees and wreaths at the American Legion Post 109 located at 15921 S. Houghton Road in Corona de Tucson. Tree sales will begin the day after Thanksgiving, November 29th (pending tree delivery from Oregon).

The hours of operation will be Monday to Thursday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Friday from 2:00 PM 10:00 PM. Saturday from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Decorate your home for the holidays with fresh-cut pine while supporting your local Boy Scouts!
