As of 1 July 2020, I have been voted by the membership of McCulloch-Wagner Post 109, to be Commander for the next year. I have served at Post 109 for the last 6 years in various roles. I take my current role very seriously.
I have three main goals in the coming year. First is to develop relationships with our local Corona Schools through writing contests and attending patriotic programs at the schools. My second main goal is to develop a Veterans Service Officer right here at Post 109 in order to provide that service to our community’s veterans. And my final goal is to increase the membership of our Post, particularly with our post 9/11 veterans. These are the veterans that will lead our Post and organization into the future. Below you will find the different ways you can join our family.
I will start with the American Legion itself. The requirements are simple. If you have served federal active duty in the United States Armed Forces since December 7, 1941 and have been honorably discharged or are still serving – you are eligible for membership in The American Legion! This includes those currently on Active Duty.
Membership in The American Legion Auxiliary include grandmothers, mothers, sisters, spouses (husbands included), and direct and adopted female descendants of members that qualify to be members of The American Legion.
The Sons of the American Legion include all male descendants, adopted sons and stepsons of members qualified to be members of The American Legion.
The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization with great political influence perpetuated by its grass-roots involvement in the legislation process from local districts to Capitol Hill. Legionnaires’ sense of obligation to community, state and nation drives an honest advocacy for veterans in Washington. The Legion stands behind the issues most important to the nation’s veterans’ community, backed by resolutions passed by volunteer leadership.
