When the stores decorate for Christmas before the pumpkins come down, it’s easy to lose the awe and wonder of the Advent/Christmas Season because the season just lasts too long. This December, why not experience the anticipation of Advent, the time of waiting before the celebration of the birth of the Christ Child?

On December 2nd at 4:00 PM, Messy Church kicks off Advent with a Las Posadas celebration in the Vail Innovation Center. Story, crafts, story, singing, story, dinner and a pinata … fun and worship for all ages in an intergenerational worship service designed to share love for God and to play together. Then, through the rest of the month, we will be looking at the advent and birth of Christ through the lens of the hymn Silent Night, honoring its 200th year as the cornerstone of Christmas celebrations everywhere. And then, a Christmas Eve “Eve Service” … yes, you read that right. At 4:00 PM on December 23rd, we will hold a Candlelight and Carols Family Service, hoping it will be an option for many who may already have Christmas Eve plans with family and friends.
