Washington’s Birthday, and Ours
This time of year always reminds me of when we used to celebrate Washington’s Birthday. I was just out of high school and wanted to do something I liked. Like most boys, I loved cars. I wanted to sell them, so I went to a nearby Lincoln Mercury Dealer, and was offered a job! About a month later, we had our Washington’s Birthday sale. A creative, successful mega dealer named Ernie Boch had cleverly decided to use the holiday as an excuse to attract more customers. For years, only car dealers celebrated this holiday, until other retailers saw how well it worked as a sales gimmick, and jumped on the bandwagon.
I wonder what the father of our country would think of all of this. Probably just roll his eyes, shrug his shoulders, and trade in his horse!
Back then we kept the new models indoors, in the garage and showroom. After all, it was February in New Hampshire! My boss purchased cherry pies which we handed out to the folks who came in for a look. He told me that in previous years the new models in the showroom were all covered, and the unveiling was a truly big deal.
Nowadays we all know what they look like even before they build them! It was a simpler time, and there was nothing wrong with that, either.
From the start I worked for respected dealers who provided fine service. I always felt providing the best of service was highly desirable, and I always strove to exceed my customers’ expectations.
The old standards of service all too often seem to exist only in memory. Luckily, that’s not the case at Bavilon. John feels as strongly as I do regarding the value of excellent customer service, so we made that an integral part of our vision of Bavilon thirteen years ago this very month. We didn’t follow the crowd. Instead we decided early on to focus on the treatment of our clients and staff.
In a time when old fashioned caring service seems to be a thing of the past, you can still find it at Bavilon Salon. Free unhurried consultations with the stylist of your choice is a great way to get acquainted. It is a co-operative environment in which the stylists recognize they all have different approaches, and work as a team to best satisfy clients’ varying needs.
Please stop in for a look! We look forward to the opportunity to please. Our stylists’ profiles, full menu with fair up-front pricing, and easy on-line booking are all at Bavilonsalon.com. Or call us at (520) 762-8787 and we will be happy to assist you.
