As a retired resident living in the Vail School District, it is comforting to know that this district is consistently rated one of the top school districts in Arizona. Vail’s graduation rate is 96% compared to Arizona’s average of 76%.  A strong education system will stabilize and increase property values and attract new businesses, skilled teachers and workers to an area where they know their kids are getting a good education.  So far this has been a huge success story, but to maintain and continue to improve it, I have no trouble supporting the modest increase of the 12.5% tax override of Prop 449, which adds only $3.25/month/$100,000 of my home’s value.  Arizona is rated 50th in the nation in per pupil funding.

We can do much better.
