To the Editor:
Arizona funds education at the lowest level in the nation. Yet in Vail, the motto is “Where Education is a Community Effort.” Proposition 449 is our community’s opportunity to reward the success of our hard working teachers. Through the generations, people have funded our school systems. When my children were in school, we were fortunate to have enough money to supply them the essentials (clothes, food, and a place to live).
I was also very thankful for people who had no children, or their children were not of school age that graciously contributed with their taxes to insure my children had an education. All of my children benefited from this process and are now contributing adults. Now it is my turn to help the younger generation. Hopefully, every member of our community will join this effort to give every child the best education to become contributing members in our society.
Vail School District children are receiving an outstanding education. We need to insure our teachers are receiving a salary that matches their efforts. This override is crucial to supporting our teachers. Please join me and vote ‘YES’ for the Vail Unified School District Override. Proposition 449.
