It’s Spring cleaning time y’all, and you can easily make a difference in the community with your gently used items.   As we come out of our winter hibernation, we may discover that we are not in need of so many items in the house.  Old games, small appliances or décor may need to move on. Closets could be overflowing, cabinets may be too full, and the garage may have been storing items that don’t hold value for your life anymore. Maybe it’s time to let them go.

Cleaning out the house can really clean up your mental game. Less physical clutter = less mental clutter, if you ask me! Are there items around that are still useful, but no longer create joy for you? Did you know that the Vail Depot Thrift Store between the tracks is in need of those items? The good news is that as you let go of what no longer serves you, you can help your community.

When you donate to the Vail Depot, not only are you providing the thrift store with more items to sell at reasonable prices, you are also helping feed members of our community.  Each item donated may be tax deductible, and each item sold provides purchasing power to our local food bank, located just across the parking lot next to the Greater Vail Chamber of Commerce.

How would you feel knowing that donating your old toaster oven actually helps provide food items to your neighbors? Your used silverware, stools, pots and pans could provide fruits, veggies and starches for those dealing with food scarcity. Your donation of clothing, small furniture, lamps, tools and toys can greatly improve the quality of life for many.

You can make an impact right here in your hometown—what you do matters!  The Vail Depot Thrift Store makes sure of it.  The truth is, we need each of our neighbors to thrive in order to build a strong sense of community. We at Greater Vail Community ReSources want to recruit you in this simple way. When you pay it forward, it comes back in ways you can’t imagine.

Please join us in the fight against hunger by bringing in your clean, used items for resale. Note that we cannot accept large furniture, computer systems or items in disrepair or those that are not in sellable condition.  Please bring your donations only during thrift store hours of operation:  Tuesday through Thursday, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, and Saturdays, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.   Your contribution to the whole makes Vail the great community that it is. See you at the Thrift Store!
