For ages, people have sought guidance from those who can see and hear into the spiritual realms. Many seek Preachers, Fortune Tellers, Astrologers, or Elders for direction in life. People pursue counsel on the meaning of life, their purpose, and spiritual instruction from various avenues. We have books, religions, and coaches pulling us in many directions. In the past, when there was no “google” or Encyclopedia Brittanica to tell us the mysteries of Universe, people sought out the local healers, the Shamans. And people are reaching out to Shamans more than ever in this day and age.

A Shaman is considered to be the local authority on and connection to the Spirit world, to the aspects of nature that are sentient. They are entreated by those who require healing from spiritual and physical ailments. To whom do you turn? Your Doctor? Your Bible? In times and places where modern medicine was unavailable and many were unable to read, they turned to authorities to guide their path. Now-a-days, even with so much at our fingertips, people are returning to these guides of ancient wisdom to find themselves anew.

Shamans are keepers of special rituals and traditions passed down through time and generations. They use plants, animals, instruments, song, and even dance in their healings. Shamanism is practiced on each inhabited continent. World-wide, people have been turning to Shamans to bridge the gap between the seen and unseen worlds.

This August, I had the wonderful experience of meeting several magnificent Shamans. They lead our group of seekers with grace and compassion. They provided insights and wisdom both personal and for the collective. They prayed for us and blessed us. Their lives are devoted to the betterment of humankind. They had practical and spiritual instruction for us. They also practiced what they preached. It was a humbling experience to be in their presence.

Having met some of these personages, I cannot suppose they are anything but benevolent, sent here to express the love of our Divine Creator towards us. If you are not feeling the love, it may be time to find your Shaman. Ask and you will find.
