When Dunkin Donuts in Rita Ranch opened shop, it was the talk of the town. Cars were lined up around the block to get a sweet treat from this much anticipated restaurant. Now, it’s your turn to get to know the person behind the new Rita Ranch hotspot.
Meet, Jad Awale, the owner of the new Dunkin’ Donuts in Rita Ranch.
1) Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Well, i guess ill start with my name! My name is Jad Awale, i was born in Seattle, Washington but lived most of my life in the greater Tucson area. My family and I moved to Tucson when I was just six years old, that was about the time that I discovered the sun and figured out that God really didn’t hate everyone. You could say that the sun is what lead us here. We were just tired of the sound of the rain hitting your bedroom window. Ironically enough, the one thing I wish we had more of in Tucson is water, just without the clouds. I love the ocean and would sit and stare at it all day if I could. I enjoy traveling and being involved in different cultures. Ive always been curious as to why certain people live the way they do. I am a people person and have set a daily goal to make AT LEAST one person smile every day, except the days I am sick because… well lets just say I don’t get out much those days. I am a firm believer in equality of both sex and race. Ive always said that there is no magic button that we press when we are born that decides if we are born a certain sex, color or the son of Bill Gates. Every smile I see is worth just as much as the next! Most people that have seen me ask me if i workout, and the answer is yes, I do. Its a bit of an oxymoron to say that my light was made in the darkness of the gym but its the truth. The gym is my passion and my home, everything thats bad seems to go away when I’m there. Hopefully one day all the time that i have spent there will turn into something more. I strive for the best not just for me, but for everyone, and maybe one day when I’m old and wrinkly ill be a governor or senator, making more people smile one step at a time. 🙂
2) Give us some background on what made you want to become a business owner?
Business is one of the things that runs in my blood. My father was one of fifteen kids, and just about all of them are business owners, or at least the ones that are still alive. I enjoy the challenges it brings forward and the people it brings into my life. It allows me to be apart of a community by supplying jobs to people in need as well good product and service to the people that want it. In my life, progress is key. I made myself a promise that the day I stop growing as an individual and as part of society, is the day I don’t wake up from a good nights sleep.
3) What made you interested in opening up Dunkin’ Donuts in Vail?
Supply and demand, for the most part. Vail and the surrounding communities are growing quickly and there is very little retail for the public. Dunkin is a great brand that many people enjoy and I wanted to make it a bit easier for people to enjoy the brand without driving a ways to get there, so as the opportunity approached i went full force!
4) What’s your favorite part about being a Vail business owner so far?
Most definitely the people. Everyone is full of smiles (which makes my daily goal a bit easier to hit) and energy. I couldn’t ask for a better community to serve.
5) What do you love about the Southeast part of Tucson?
Well with vail school district being rated number 1 in Arizona, I love that education is important. I also enjoy the fair grounds and being close to the freeway!
6) How do you anticipate getting involved in the Vail and Rita Ranch communities?
I like to help wherever and whenever I can. I hope we provide vail and the surrounding communities with a great product and customer service. We also have discounts for our military (God bless you all for doing what you do), 10% off of your transaction. We hope that every time you walk in our doors great memories are created!
7) Anything else you’d like the public to know?
I apologize for my grammar, its about 1:30 am and the older I get the more my eyes seem to hate me. But thank you all for your time and I hope you enjoy Dunkin as much as we enjoy you!
