Bryan Huie, who lives in Sahuarita and heads up the non-profit Baseball’s Next Level, brought in 15 college scouts Saturday to take a look at Southern Arizona prospects. Schools included UNLV, ASU, Arizona, New Mexico State, New Mexico, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Bakersfield, Grand Canyon University and several community colleges. Huie, a former scout for the White Sox and a part-time scout for the New York Yankees, drew on his baseball contacts to help pull together the event. Baseball’s Next Level has 10 teams from ages 13 to 18, and about 155 players. Those who will graduate from high school in 2018 and 2019 were at Saturday’s event. In three years, BNL has sent 78 players to play college ball, Huie said.
