Inaugural Mother’s Day contest and fundraiser raised $500 for United Way’s Community Impact Fund

OOROO Auto, a multi-award-winning auto repair and maintenance service provider in Southern Arizona, celebrated Mother’s Day 2022 with a contest and community fundraiser. Five Tucson-area moms were selected to receive one year of covered car care with OOROO’s “Happy Car Club” subscription service. One Grand Prize winner also saw $500 donated in her name to the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona’s Community Impact Fund.

Following an open nomination period encouraging children of all ages to submit a short essay about their moms or mother figures, five women were selected by a committee to receive one year of OOROO’s Happy Car Club subscription service, which includes a suite of standard auto care services and a 10% discount on all other maintenance.

“Mothers do so much in service for their families, including spending hours in the car running errands and shuttling their families, in addition to working and giving back to their communities” said OOROO Founder and CEO Jeff Artzi. “Moms are uniquely invested in making the world a better place, always worrying about and doing things for those around them; the least we could do is give a few moms one less thing to worry about through the comfort of covered car care.”

One of the five Happy Car Club winners, Leslie Brown, was named the Grand Prize winner; in addition to her Happy Car Club subscription, a $500 donation was made in her name to the United Way’s Community Impact Fund, raised through a Facebook Fundraising campaign which OOROO matched dollar-for-dollar.

“As a nurse for the last ten years, my goal is to help and take care of the people here in Tucson,” said Brown. “This fundraiser is a great way to support our community members’ education and overall health and wellness. We’ve experienced a lot over the last two years, and I can’t think of a better way to show support for our wonderful community!”

“We are grateful to Leslie and OOROO for their generous donation. What a wonderful way to honor mothers for all they do for their families and communities,” said Jeff Petrovic, Chief Development Officer of the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona. “The Community Impact Fund addresses crucial local needs including education, health and financial literacy, and this gift will help us continue building a thriving community here in southern Arizona.”

“Launching the Mother’s Day giveaway, as well as a similar one for Father’s Day, is a continuation of OOROO’s deep commitment to giving back and becoming actively involved in the neighborhoods in which we operate,” added Artzi. “We have felt so welcomed by the Tucson community ever since we opened our first shop in 2014, and we’re excited to continue growing in the area with our neighbors’ support.”
