With many Americans complaining about meat department prices, I’m going to drop a few helpful hints to ease the pain in the meat aisle:
- Price compare among your local stores, as each week different stores have different commodities on sale. Even if you have to drive a few extra miles, it’s worth it in the end.
- Buy bulk. It may cost a few more dollars at the time to buy multiple sale items, but that’s why you have a freezer. Buying bulk will spread out your meals over a period of time, and may mean fewer trips to a store for meals.
- Shop the reduced and markdown sections early in the morning, as that’s the best time to grab products that are reduced in price. These items have nothing wrong with them: they may be close to expiration date, off quality, or an overstock, and are an easy way to save a buck.
- Talk to the meat department guys about sale items, They may have suggestions for meals that can save a few dollars and make your money go further.
