Throughout human existence, knowledge and wisdom have been passed down so each generation can learn more and grow from there. We stand on the shoulders of giants. Look at the way we pass information now. Social media is such a fast way to get stories out to others. It’s no longer the bard travelling from town to town that provides information. We each have stories and rumors at our fingertips, literally.

What about your story? Where do you tell your story? Are you writing in a journal? It’s not necessary to write in order for others to read. Sometimes we write just to get thoughts out of our head. What we record isn’t always meant to be shared, but when it is, we make it good, don’t we?

In history, the winners are typically the ones to record how events went down. Who have the winners been? Which nationality, gender, race or other perspectives influence what is told to the general public? When we look at our sources, we can see the potential bias of information flow. If you read my journals (which I do on my podcast), you would find a very biased view on love, raising children and career paths.

When we broaden our resources and try on other perspectives, we may come to understand another viewpoint that we didn’t before. We might just find ourselves in listening to others’ stories. Instead of it being a history, it gets to be OURstory. We can take ownership of the other histories we look into. Learning more about other cultures and their practices helps our global community be more in synch and harmonize with each other.

As we increase our global awareness, we can feel our connection as humans. We no longer need to feel so divided by country, creed, or physical characteristics. We can acknowledge our souls as being connected, regardless of the details.

Maybe it’s time for you to get your story out there. I am in the process of writing a series of books with my story in them. What’s your story and how can people relate to you? Tell us all, so it can not only be history, Herstory or TheirStory, but OURstory!
