Jason and Jillian Stubblefield had an idea to raise funds to donate a Cuddle Cot to Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tucson, where Jillian delivered her twin boys. With the help of Rita Ranch Storage, Car & Dog Wash, a fundraiser was held on the 4th of June.
Jason and Jillian were motivated to do this when one of their sons, Roman, passed away shortly after birth. As Jillian, writes, “Nothing prepares you for losing a child. Nothing prepares you for that good-bye. We refused to let the hospital staff take our son away and put him in the basement morgue. What parent wants that to happen? We kept him with us for the next 15 hours until the funeral arrangements were made and the funeral home could pick him up.”
A Cuddle Cot is a cooling blanket in a crib that helps slow the process of a baby “changing” after he/she passes away. A Cuddle Cot is truly a gift of time for parents who lose their infant suddenly or for babies that are born sleeping.
All funds raised were used for the purchase of a Cuddle Cot and an accompanying basket. Jason and Jillian did not know about cuddle cots and were unable to use one. Because of their experience, their actions help ensure that other mothers and fathers, facing this unfortunate experience, will be able to have the use of one of these cots. A special thank you to Rita Ranch Storage, Car & Dog Wash for hosting this special fundraiser.
