By David Hook, Pastor, Christ Lutheran Vail Church

Springtime is my favorite season in Vail. The sun rises a bit earlier, the mornings are crisp, and I am reminded once again of the beaty of God’s creation in the Sonoran Desert.

This year will be particularly poignant. After a long and grueling pandemic, I am hopeful that this spring we will begin to see a return to our new normal, whatever that may look like.

For the past several years, Christ Lutheran Vail has hosted an annual Spring Fling to raise money for our Mothers of Preschool group, known affectionately as MOPS. This year, the group feels that something else is needed. What is really needed is an opportunity to get outside, celebrate the beauty of Vail, and gather as a community. How about a picnic?

This year, your family is invited to share food, games, and fun at a simple community picnic. The event is Saturday, March 26 from 10:00 to 1:00. There will be old-fashioned picnic games, food, and local community groups. Like our annual Trunk or Treat, there will be something for the whole family.

If you are ready to turn the page on the last two years and get outside for a celebration, this event is for you. I look forward to seeing you at the picnic!

Blessings to you this spring,
