By Pima County District 4 Supervisor Steve Christy
I hope this finds you well and enjoying the New Year.
Unfortunately, last month a local teenager died in a single car incident on Houghton Road, just north of Andrada Road. While other factors were involved, the sad event brought to the forefront the condition of Houghton Road, south of Interstate 10.
By the time this reaches you, we will have held two community meetings to hear from Corona de Tucson and Vail residents. During both we, with officials from the state, county and city departments of transportation as well as law enforcement and other area leaders, have discussed future plans regarding traffic and safety improvements to the road, and other roadways throughout the area.
We will be holding more meetings as we continue to work toward seeking potential short and long-term solutions to the Houghton Road situation, and transportation issues in the Vail/Corona de Tucson community.
Of course, you don’t need to attend the meetings to have your voice heard. Please contact my office at (520) 724-8094 or via email, at district4@pima.gov anytime.
