Looking for a purr-fect place to volunteer or adopt a cat? Try going to the Hermitage Cat Shelter! Recently, Vail Academy’s National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) took a trip to help over 180 homeless felines at the Hermitage Cat Shelter. The Hermitage Cat Shelter is a not-for profit organization supported entirely on donations. With 9,000 square feet to roam free, these kitties can choose to explore outside or inside. From cleaning windows to making cat toys and blankets, we aimed to provide these felines a better home and enjoyable life. I personally learned that every little bit of time put in helps, no matter how big or small. This was an experience that was very beneficial both to us as students and to the cat shelter. We look forward to revisiting our friends soon!

The Hermitage Cat Shelter is located at 5278 E 21st St, Tucson and is open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. They are closed Sunday and Monday. If you would like to volunteer, please contact them at (520) 571-7839. For more information, you can visit them online at: http://www.hermitagecatshelter.org
