Dave Cody, Vail AZ Locksmith

I first had the pleasure of meeting Dave Cody, owner of Pop’s Lock & Key (a local locksmith who actually lives and works right here in Vail, Arizona) about a year and a half ago at a Greater Vail Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast. We started working together fairly soon after we met. The more I got to know Dave Cody, the more I became impressed with his genuine kind spirit, humble attitude, and passion for the Vail area.

Last month, he won the Business Spotlight award at the Greater Vail Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast. I was delighted to interview him and write the piece about his company for his spot in The Vail Voice. Now, I’m sharing with you some of his answers so you can get to know this local entrepreneur.

Please welcome, Dave Cody from Pop’s Lock & Key, our Vail, Arizona locksmith!

1. What is the #1 thing you do for your customers?

Solve their lock/key problems with courteous service and integrity.

2. Why are you the BEST at what you do?

I would never say that I am the best at what I do as there are many excellent people in my trade. However, to quote Charles Emerson Winchester III of the “MASH” TV series, “I do one thing at a time, I do it very well and then I move on”.

3. What do you enjoy doing in your personal/leisure time?

I enjoy spending time with my wife of 41 years as well as with family and friends. I have a passion for horses and the cowboy life and I love reading historical novels about that era.

4. What’s a mantra/motto/motivational life saying that gets you pumped?

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters” Colossians 3:23 NIV

5. Anything else people in Vail should know about you and your business?

My wife and I have been residents of the Vail community for 21 years. We also own and operate Vail Equipment Rentals & Repairs.
