The first Sunday of August has been designated as Friendship Day. The focus of Friendship Day is to celebrate friendships, both old and new.  In 1997, The United Nations named Winnie the Pooh, as the world Ambassador of Friendship.  As quoted, Winnie the Pooh noted that “A day without a friend is like a pot without a single drop of honey left inside.

It is a true gift to have a friend, someone to confide in, someone to talk with, and someone to learn from.  Often, friendships take time to develop. Accordingly, the great scholar of old, Socrates was noted to have taught “Be slow to fall into friendship; but when you are in, continue firm and consistent.” Let’s give thanks for our friends!
